List of Books from Female Native Authors - Tyra

In the light of the recent news regarding Sherman Alexie, I want to acknowledge there are other amazing indigenous authors, especially women, that deserve your attention. Please check out this list and also consider reading Love Medicine by Louis Erdrich, it is an amazing book in a similar short story format as The Toughest Indian in the World.

Meet Mo (that's me!)

Hi friends!

If you're reading this yay! I am a tad late on introductions but better late than never. My name is Mo and it's short for Motunrolaolu Asebiomo which is a name that comes from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. Other than my name, if there's a few things you should know about me, it's that I am your hug loving, tea drinking, midnight dancing neighbor next door in Columbae.

I was stoked to take this house sem as I wanted to meet my neighbors and make myself knowledgeable of the culture and events of the Native community on campus. I think there could many ways a person feels linked to their indigenous roots and to be transparent, I am still thinking about how I feel linked to my ancestors and my roots in Nigeria. After you read this ask me again and I'll let you know where I'm at! In the mean time, smile at this picture of me SMILING at you! :)

Native Fam Support :)

From left: Emily, Kawena, and Ashleigh

Yá’át’ééh! I am a senior living in Muwekma for the second time; the first time was as a frosh which really brings my Stanford journey full circle. Throughout this journey, I have been blessed with this amazing Native family who welcomed me as a little freshman in an ACL brace, stayed in contact with me during my year off, supported me when I came back, and always make my day like bringing dinner to my work and visiting me (pictured above.) In whatever circumstance, I can always count on them to make me laugh...laughter is our medicine.

My name is Taylor Billey and I appreciate Native fam so much!
