On Saturday, Feb 24 I was unveiled as the new Tree, the unofficial mascot for the University at the men's basketball game. While this was already a really special moment, it made it even better that a bunch of Native fam came out to support me. My two-week campaign to become Tree was centered on my Native identity and the fact that I would be the first Native student to be Tree. While the Tree is supposed to be representative of the whole campus, I can't wait to use this platform to be unapologetically Native.
