Muyakainkanna - Adam Nalley

I guess some people just found out I was in Band, but yeah, I've been in band since last quarter, and it has definitely been an experience. Many were astounded for the growth of tamme egi sengabi @Dahkota Brown, which gained recent popularity. I play the tuba, so you'll most likely see me in the back row, either on the field or in the stands, or even at a rally.

Muyakainkanna means "playing a horned instrument," or "making an object cry with your mouth" in Shoshone. I played baritone and bass clarinet in high school, but we only had about three people most of the time, and we didn't get to play anywhere except for the Christmas Program, Veteran's Day Parade, and one pep rally for the whole two years we had a music program. We didn't really get to play at football games and basketball games like all the other schools because we were usually in sports, so there wouldn't be anyone playing at all. But now, I get to relive my high school days and play tuba at football games and basketball games with my Native friends Dakota Willis, Emery Whitfield-Nez, Dahkota, and @Jade.

This is a picture of the horn cover I made for the University of Oregon football game (at least I think it was UO). It says Tammem Paa' Iyaihka, and in English it says Protect Our Water, and the top is a typical mountain landscape you'd see in Nevada and the bottom part is supposed to be San Francisco, because we have to protect our water no matter where we are, even if there's a lot of water around.
